MISSION STATEMENT

The Friends of the East Fishkill Community Library is a community service organization with the mission of enhancing the functions of the Library. The mission of the Friends organization includes the following:

• Maintain close communication and rapport with the Library Board of Trustees, Library Director, and the Library Staff.
• Recognize and understand the values, objectives, and policies of the Board of Trustees and Library Director and strive for consistency with them.
• Acknowledge and support the Library’s plans, progress, decisions, and future needs.
• Foster membership drives in a manner that is diverse and open to increase the positive impact of the Friends organization.
• Pursue fund raising opportunities to enable enhancement of Library functions.
• Encourage the unrestricted donation of gifts, endowments, memorial contributions, and bequests to the Library.
• Work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees and Library Director for enhancement of Library capabilities and offerings.
• Develop appropriate strategies to enable achievement of the organization’s objectives.
• Foster and encourage usage of Library facilities by the community within the Town of East Fishkill .
• Sponsor library programs for children, youths, and adults.
• Seek opportunities to establish outreach with the business community for support of the Library.
• Establish liaison with area schools and educational facilities.
• Present the benefits of Library support to the legislators, community leaders, and media when possible.
